Composer, georgian bassist, jazzman Tamaz Kurashvili died at the age of 75. He was a soloist of the Philharmonic Ensemble “Dielos”, Ensemble “Chang”, as well as the Radio and Television Committee Variety Orchestra; Head of the jazz ensemble in 1979; Chief conductor and artistic director of the pop-symphonic orchestra.
Tamaz Kurashvili is the composer of the short feature film “Supta Dafa”, the feature film “They”, as well as the play “Taming Mimino” of the Telavi Drama Theater.
In 2011, Tamaz Kurashvili was awarded a star in front of the Great Concert Hall. He was also awarded the title of honorary citizen of Tbilisi.
He was the first to be awarded a star in the jazz field in 2011 in front of the Great Concert Hall.
Tamaz Kurashvili participated in festivals of different countries of the world for years.
Since 1987, he has worked for years in the USA with famous jazz artists John Byrd and Stephen Jordan. He has participated in many concerts and jazz evenings.
