Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller performed as a duo for the first time at Blues Jazz Scenes 2024 Festival

https://JazzBlues.EU September 10, 2024

Privileged to have witnessed music history last night when Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller performed as a duo for the first time.

It was a event and found the longtime friends in top form.

A 20-minute+ version of “Tutu” with all kinds of wild soloing and improv duets (and a passage from “Birdland!”) was surely the highlight. The encore combining Miller’s “Blast” and Clarke’s “School Days” was also thrilling.

Cameron Graves and Salar Nader provided superb accompaniment as well. They knew their collective job was to support the focal points of the gig and create a canvas for them to paint on, and they were totally on point.

I seriously doubt it’s possible to have more fun at a gig than that one. Happy to have been alive for it…
