Eric Clapton to release new album – Meanwhile. Interview with him: It’s really a collection of the stuff that I’ve done over the last three, four years: Video

In an interview with the Real Music Observer, Eric Clapton revealed he will be releasing his new album in October.

Clapton advocated to release the album in 2024 saying, “I had to fight to get out because it was going to be pushed back til next year.”

Clapton added, “It’s really a collection of the stuff that I’ve done over the last three, four years that we did at home. I played the guitar with a drum machine or a click.

Then it got sent to L.A. where Nathan (East) would play bass and Sonny (Emory) in Atlanta would play drums. And all of this stuff was forced on us by the governments who wouldn’t let us play together, so I thought let’s get it all out. It’s called Meanwhile and it’s nice. It’s good stuff.”

Clapton continues, “It’s a little inhibited because it was all home recorded but I need to get it out there. We’ll try some of those songs (on tour) but I’m more likely to play stuff that we know well that the audience expect to hear.”

Clapton heads to South America later this month when he begins touring in Argentina on September 20th with additional dates in Brazil, Mexico, and California.

When asked about 2025 plans, Clapton mentioned that the DVD for the 2023 Crossroads Guitar Festival which Blues Rock Review provided extensive coverage of, has been mixed and is ready to go out.
