In the spring of 1961, the gorgeous quintet led by Cannonball Adderley performed at the Falconer Centre, which had just been reborn as a modernist building, on CD for the first time.
Featuring Sam Jones, Nat Adderley, and Louis Hayes.
Before smashing the soul-jazz world with hits like Unit 7 and Jive Samba, Cannonball had a successful year-and-a-half with Miles Davis, adding to the band’s appeal.
Recorded right after. British-born pianist Victor Feldman, who is also known for composing “Seven Steps To Heaven” in a session with Miles Davis, participates and provides four songs.
