In the Blues: Scott Henderson, Jimi Hendrix. In classical music: Bach, Debussy, Ambient Music: Max Richter …
What do you find most challenging about being an independent artist in today’s music industry?
Since I work as a performing musician and as a composer in Film Music. As an independent artist, can I handle this combination well?
What do you base your success on?
With 35 awards and 22 nominations between 2017 and 2026, I can safely say that I have achieved success in a short time.
Can you talk about your experiences collaborating with other artists or musicians? How does it influence your creative process?
Collaboration is a requirement as a performing musician: I work a lot on a project basis as a hired musician, but I also put together my own band.
While recording my music, we also inspire each other, and I usually have the lyrics written by the singer.
As a result, there is more engagement, and everyone feels the music as their own.
What was your latest musical release?
I am currently working on two new albums for the Grammys: an Ambient CD titled Peacefulness.
and our second album by Guy Renardeau & Four Shades of Blue
Do you have any news to share? Could you share the story behind your latest new CD Guy Renardeau – Four Shades of Blue what inspired its creation?
We won 2 awards at the World Entertainment Awards 2026 in Los Angeles. Location: the legendary Whisky a Go Go.

How does your latest album fit into your creative path? Is this a goal you wanted to achieve?
I specifically wanted to make a somewhat quiet blues album in which the music and lyrics are expressed better. The guitar playing is also in a fingerpicking style, predominantly clean, with a nod to John Mayer in a number of songs.
How do you approach the process of songwriting, and are there any specific themes or emotions you tend to explore in your music?
The songwriting process goes as follows: I come up with a theme and a melody line, add an interesting chord progression to it , and that is how I build a song. Then I write the lyrics, or one of the singers writes the lyrics to my melody and music. Every song has a message and a unique approach.
As an indie musician, how do you navigate the balance between creative freedom and commercial appeal?
You have to do a lot yourself. My distribution is run through Distrokid, where I post my music, and I do extra promotion on Spotify, YouTube, Vimeo, etc. You learn a lot this way, but I handle the contracts and business matters through my agent and entertainment lawyer.
What role do technology and social media play in promoting your music and connecting with your audience?
Nowadays, everything revolves around digital promotion, live performances, winning awards, and sharing major and minor successes with your fan base. And other interested parties.
Could you describe a memorable live performance experience or tour that has had a lasting impact on you and your music?
A few years ago, I did a wonderful tour in Europe as part of the famous annual Jimi Hendrix Music Festival. Performed at this festival: Steve Vai, Walter Trout, Buddy Miles, Noel Redding, Steve Lukather, Snowy White. In the summer of 2026, the Thessaloniki State Symphony will be performing my film music in Greece.
In an era of streaming platforms, how do you feel about the changing landscape of music consumption and its impact on independent musicians?
You must try to capitalise on new trends.
Musicians often have a close relationship with their fanbase. How do you engage with your fans and build a dedicated community around your music?
I do a lot with Instagram, Facebook, my own website, and via the Grammy platform.
How can fans find you? Finally, please share some final words with the fans.
