To mark the 60th anniversary of the legendary jazz festivals in Sopot, Poland, in 1956 and 57, Polskie Nagrania is rereleasing two 3-CD boxes that were first published a decade ago and quickly sold out. The 1957 festival was highlighted by the first postwar appearance behind the Iron Curtain of West German musicians, including Joki Freund, and the Mangelsdorff brothers, Emil and Albert, plus the sensational performance of the American shouter Big Bill Ramsey that launched the rock and roll frenzy in Poland.
